Aberdeen Art Gallery houses an important art collection ranging from 18th century portraits by Raeburn, Hogarth, Ramsay and Reynolds to powerful 20th century works by Paul Nash, Ben Nicholson and Francis Bacon. The collection also includes paintings by Impressionists such as Monet, Pissaro, Sisley and Bonnard. Other permanent displays feature a significant collection of Scottish silver and other decorative arts. The gallery seeks where possible to provide a platform for new and emerging artists and hosts an active programme of special exhibitions throughout the year.
