Industrial Museums and Ancestral Tourism Mapping Exercise - Fact-sheets Available On-Line

The Ancestral Tourism Initiative (ATI), a combined VisitScotland, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise initiative, was formed to address the growth in interest in family genealogy in Scotland - and the related positive effects on tourism. Museums are an important part of the ancestral tourism product, and SMC most recently worked with the ATI and a group of Scottish industrial museums (including a representative from the National Archives of Scotland) on a project addressing the increasing amounts of genealogy enquiries received by these sites.
