Nairn Museum offers visitors an insight into the life and times of the town and surrounding area. The permanent displays cover many aspects of Nairn’s history and there is also an extremely large collection of archive material. The museum also has an annual special programme of visiting exhibitions. Take a look at their website below for more information.
The museums exhibits are housed in a number of themed rooms. The Fishertown Room tells the story of the fishing industry, which was the mainstay of Nairn until the 1950s. The Work & Play Room displays a variety of artefacts and photographs showing leisure time and work time in Nairn. Other themed rooms include the Military Room, the Way of Life Room and the Burgh Room.
The museum provides a range of pick-up-and-touch exhibits for the children and a safe play area.
