National Museum of Rural Life
A museum for the perfect family day out, in the fresh open air. The award winning National Museum of Rural Life offers so much to see and do.
Experience the traditional way of life on a rural 1950s Scottish farm including, sowing, ploughing, haymaking and harvesting. A tractor ride takes you to see a herd of pedigree Ayrshire cattle being milked and to see the Kittochshire flock of Scottish blackface ewes.

Finish your visit with a bite to eat at the Sheilings Café and a browse around the museum gift shop. The café offers a selection of sandwiches, baguettes and home baking, plus children’s and vegetarian meals. The museum shop sells various countryside themed gifts, from a child’s first farmyard, to mugs, books and pictures.
