Old Haa Museum
Yell is home to the Old Haa Museum and is the island stepping stone to Unst and Fetlar. It was built by fish merchant, Robert Tyrie in 1672 and for more than 200 years was home to a succession of merchants.
It opened in the mid 1980s as a museum to promote interest in local and natural history. There is a wide range of collections that include material relating to crofting, whaling, merchant service and shipwrecks and there is also a picture and sound archive.
There is a tea room serving freshly made homebakes, a craft shop and a gallery, that regularly displays local art. It also has an award winning floral garden and a picnic area.
