In January 2006, Patricia Ferguson, MSP, Minster for Tourism, Culture and Sport launched �Scotland�s Culture�, a new policy statement setting out the Scottish Executive�s response to the Cultural Review and the work of the Cultural Commission. One of the steps proposed to implement the new cultural policy was the establishment of a working group to progress action on cultural planning and entitlements. Leslie Evans, Head of Tourism, Culture and Sport Group, chairs the group. Membership includes representatives from the Executive, VOCAL, COSLA and the Scottish Arts Council. Joanne Orr, CEO, represents SMC.
The group has met at regular intervals to develop guidance for local authorities in the run up to the publication of the Draft Culture Bill.
