Museums, Galleries and Digitisation

Current best practice and recommendations on measuring impact

This report is the result of research commissioned by SMC, looking at how the impact that online digitisation projects can be demonstrated.

Where digitisation projects are designed to improve public access to collections, and where public money provides funding for projects, measuring and demonstrating impact on end users becomes especially important. The overall value of a digitisation project can only really be evaluated if the twin factors of a successful digitisation process, along with the qualitative impact on users are both fully taken into account.

The results of the research are available as a summary report, or as the full findings. The full report contains detailed methodology, in-depth case studies, and an extensive analysis of the findings.
