Partners: North Ayrshire Council Museums Service, South Ayrshire Council, Wanlockhead Museum of Lead Mining, Dumfries and Galloway Council.
This is a creative web-based collaboration between the museum services of south west Scotland. It is maximising access to collections and deepening people�s understanding of the rich history of the region. Partners are building a dynamic website which will help to define the region and provide a range of interactive resources based on the strong history and local distinctiveness of this region of Scotland.
A suite of learning packages, with a focus in year one on mining, will complement annual touring exhibitions to encourage partnership working. New commissions will develop audiences for collections and stimulate debate on new approaches to displaying and sharing collections.
The website will encourage broader links with tourism initiatives. It is planned to be a sustainable resource for the future development of collections interpretation and visitor services.
