North East Scotland Museums Partnership

Lead partner: Aberdeen City Council

Partners: Aberdeenshire Council and University of Aberdeen

This is a strategic project with the aim of augmenting and developing the work of the museum sector in the North East of Scotland. Working closely with the Education Services of both local authorities (Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire) and the Universitys School of Education, the key priority of this project will be to model, test and deliver across the North East the concept of a cultural right of access to exceptional collections held by museums in this part of Scotland and to the stories that they tell.

Taking as its overarching theme The Great North East Story, the partnership will work with museums and relevant related bodies to develop a project-based approach to exploring the issues raised by the shift to service provision based on cultural rights. This work will make collections more accessible by promoting interest through educational work aimed at both children and adults.
