Annual Returns
This process is required for museums in both the new Accreditation scheme and those museums currently registered under Phase2 of the Registration scheme. All museums are required to formally update SMC on their progress and action in maintaining Accreditation or Registration standards.   This update is provided by the means of an Annual Return. These will be slightly different for the 2 schemes over the 5 years.

Annual Returns Registration Phase 2
These returns will continue as normal throughout the duration of the scheme.  Museums will be sent their returns by MLA and be asked to report on any changes or developments over the last year.  These returns are submitted in paper format to SMC for checking.

Please consult SMCs e-bulletin for updates on these returns.

Annual Returns - Accreditation
Museums in the Accreditation scheme will only be asked to submit a return on a bi-annual basis.  This will begin from 2006.  The Annual Return will ask the museum to update on any changes or developments that have taken place in the preceding year that may affect Accredited status.  This return will also require the museum to report back on progress in achieving the objectives stated in the submitted Forward Plan.

SMC will update the museums this will affect with more information as soon as possible

Sudden changes in practice
