SMC Grants

Gordon Fraser Trust Paper Conservation Grants

The Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust has provided grants for the conservation of paper collections to SMC members for many years. All kinds of paper conservation and collection care work are considered including collection condition surveys, conservation treatment or staff coaching.

It is a condition of the Gordon Fraser Trust Grants that all work is undertaken by the Scottish Conservation Studio so, if you represent a Full SMC member museum, get in touch to discuss your needs and request an estimate for the work:

AIM/ Pilgrim Trust Conservation Scheme: Grants for Independent Museums

The AIM/ Pilgrim Trust Conservation Grant Scheme is intended to help small museums with conservation of objects in their collections. Accessioned objects in any media will be considered but you must represent an AIM member museum to be eligible. June Baker Trust Awards for Conservators in Scotland

The June Baker Trust was set up in 1990 to help individuals working in the conservation of historic and artistic artefacts in Scotland, or training with the intention to do so. Awards are available towards travel, attendance at conferences and on short courses, purchase of equipment, or other suitable projects.  Application forms are available from the Chairman. The Daphne Bullard Trust

'� to promote the conservation of dress and textiles of all periods and their display....'
The trust was set up to promote the work of dress and costume conservation, display and publication. It considers applications from students of or persons engaged in the conservation and study of dress and textiles of any period and their display. Grants of �300 - �1,000 are available. The Kathy Callow Trust

'� to provide awards with a long-term benefit for the conservation of social history artefacts and evidence in small museums....'
The trust makes awards to small museums for the purposes of assisting with the costs of conservation projects. Such projects might include an exhibition, improving stored collections or running workshops for people connected with museums. The trustees particularly welcome applications on the following aspects of social history conservation: the disadvantaged in society, women, the sea, industrialisation, and small localities.
