This Scottish Executive scheme managed by SMC will, for the first time, recognise collections of national significance held by Scotlands non-national museums and galleries.
Douglas Connell has been appointed as chair of the Significance Committee. The other members of the committee are Patricia Andrew, Neil Cameron, Herbert Coutts, Simon Fairclough, William Fox, Alexander Hayward, Anne Macdonald and Evelyn Silber.
See the biographies file for details of the committee and notes for reports of meetings.

The case for recognition will be made by providing hard evidence through the descriptions, information and citations made in the application form and through any supporting information provided as appendices to the application.
Additionally, partnership applications are expected to demonstrate the following:
There are many collections that may not be ready to apply as part of a partnership but more rounds are likely so now is the time to develop working relationships.
Key dates for Round Two are:
Round opened: 10 April 2007
Closing date for Notes of Interest: 31 May 2007
Closing date for applications: 7 September 2007
