British Association of Friends of Museums
BAFM is an independent organisation established in 1973, for Friends, volunteers and supporters in museums, galleries and heritage sites.  BAFM represents 200,000 Friends and volunteers across the UK.  They offer a friendly and practical network of support from people with first hand experience of running Friends organisations.  They act as a clearing house for common problems and their solutions and are a central source of information.
For further information visit their website: www.bafm.org.uk.  A BAFM publication for volunteer managers can be found in Volunteer Development Resources.

Scottish Association of Volunteers Managers
The Scottish Association of Volunteers Managers is the professional association for volunteer managers in Scotland.  SAVM gives recognition to the integral role that managers have in developing and promoting volunteering and enriching our society.  The organisation exists to serve anyone concerned with managing volunteers, salaried or otherwise, by raising the status, respect and value accorded to the profession of volunteer management and by helping them develop confidence, pride and competence in their work.
For further information visit their website: www.savm.org.uk

Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations
The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is the umbrella body for voluntary organisations in Scotland, with offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.  SCVO pursues a twofold strategic mission:
to promote and advocate the independence, interests and values of the voluntary sector among the major players in Scottish life and in the wider community
to encourage voluntary organisations to realise their full potential by improving their effectiveness and capacity through providing access to training, information, analysis, funding opportunities and services.
Further details can be found at: www.scvo.org.uk

Voluntary Arts Network
VAN aims to promote participation in the arts and crafts, recognising that they are a key part of our culture and that they are vital to our health, social and economic development.  Voluntary Arts Scotland is the Scottish branch of VAN.
For further information visit their website at: www.voluntaryarts.org

Volunteer Centre Network
The Volunteer Centre Network in Scotland is aiming to create a Scotland where everyone who wants to volunteer can do so.  The network is made up of 42 volunteer centres operating out of some 60 offices, so there should be one fairly close to you.  Although each Centre is a locally managed independent voluntary organisation working hard to be in tune with local volunteer needs and priorities, the network sites are beginning to collaborate more and more, to provide the best services possible.  Local centres can offer advice, support, affordable training and help with recruitment for organisations involving volunteers.
To find your local site visit their website: www.volunteerscotland.org.uk

Volunteer Development Scotland
VDSs mission is to learn about the 'Volunteering Landscape' of Scotland, and serve within an international context as the National Centre of Excellence to appreciate and maximise the positive impacts of volunteering on individuals, groups, organisations, communities and society.  They provide advice, training and publications, which can help to support and develop the work of volunteers and volunteer managers.
For further information visit their website: www.vds.org.uk.  Specific VDS support materials can also be found in Volunteer Development Resources
